The Laser Cutter project was designed to replace an old sheer cutting system using metal blades against an anvil roll. The old system had a lot of variances in widths due to blade wear, over pressure on the blade to compensate for dull blades and the anvil roll needed to be replaced regularly due to scoring of the roll. The new laser system used a servo positioning system for precise placement of the lasers, so the sheet had cleanly trimmed edges as well as providing a center cut for double up roll production. This system improved machine up time, and reduced maintenance costs.
